BEFORE THE CON

Buying a Badge

You MUST buy badges in advance. Every year we sell out and there are no day passes or tickets at the door, BUY A BADGE to attend.

Buying a badge for yourself, for a family member or an attendee that you will manage their badge for them?

  • You must sign up for a tabletop.events account.
  • You can then select “Buy Badges.” fill out the name and YOUR email and add to your cart, once added you can enter a new name and YOUR email add another to your cart. Keep adding as many badges as you need before checking out. Using your email will send all badges to your email account allowing you to manage these badges.

Buying a badge for a friend? Please follow these steps:

  • Have your friend sign up for a tabletop.events account. They must do this.
  • Once they have an account, click your name at the top of the tabletop.events screen. Then click "Friends" on the right side. Then type their name or email, select them. They will get an email which they must confirm.
  • Once you are friends, you will see them in your friends list. You can click "Give" next to their name, and then choose the badge you want them to have. Now they have their own badge and can sign up for events.

Events

Closer to the date, we will post events that people can sign up for at tabletop.events. We will also have a game scheduler, where you can schedule other games with people on Board Game Geek. More information can be found at Get Involved.

Merch

Merchandise will be available at tabletop.events in the same place where you purchase a badge. Merch can be added when you purchase your badge, or you can wait and purchase merch closer to the event. Pre-ordering merch will ensure you get the size you want and save you a few bucks (as merch prices will be higher at the convention). Merch pics will be posted as soon as they become available.

Flea Market

Keep an eye on the Facebook page, we will announce when flea market tables will go on sale. You will be able to purchase a table through the Merchandise page at tabletop.events. Tables are limited and are first come, first serve. We run a Virtual Flea Market where you can buy and sell games to people ahead of time. More information can be found at Get Involved.

AT THE CON

Registration

Registration opens at 10 am on Wednesday March 12th. There will be breakfast pastries set out to help the wait, but we can usually get through first arrivals in under an hour!

After you check in, you will get a Neck Wallet, your badge, and 2 Door Prize tickets! Make sure that you put your tickets into the spinning wheel at Board Game HQ in the Main Ballroom.

Event Sign-Up

Any events/games that you signed up for online prior to the con will have your name on the sign-up sheets at Board game Head Quarters (a large table with con crew members in the main hall). Please feel free to sign up for other non-conflicting events too!

Ways to Connect with Others

  • You can grab a sign that says teacher wanted or players wanted, and put the box lid for the game you want to play on top of the tri-fold.
  • You can Go to the Hot Games area in the Palms Ballroom and see if there are any spots to join a game.
  • You can use the EWCon Discord Channel to see what games are looking for players.
  • You can see what events are going on that you may want to join by signing up at Board Game HQ.
  • And… Invite others! If you see someone looking for a game, please ask people if they want to play :)

CON RULES

Harassment Policy

We pride ourselves in having a family-friendly convention and will not tolerate unacceptable behavior. Unacceptable behaviors include: vulgar, intimidating, harassing, abusive, derogatory, discriminatory, or demeaning conduct by any Attendees and Con Crew of Escape Winter Convention and its related events and functions. Some Escape Winter Convention venues may be shared with members of the public; please be respectful to all patrons of these locations. Harassment includes:

  • Offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or disability.
  • Inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces.
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
  • Harassing photography or recording.
  • Sustained disruption of events.
  • Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome sexual attention.

Engaging in any of these acts puts you at risk for immediate removal from the convention, and a permanent ban from The Escape Winter Convention in the future. This goes for anyone regardless of gender identity.

The Escape Winter Con Badge Policy

Attendees must wear a name badge at all times to be in any convention function or space. No exceptions!

Hotel Quiet Times

The Hotel has quiet time each day from 10PM to 9AM. When going outside during these times, please show respect to others. You wouldn’t want someone waking you or your family up, so return the favor!

Health, Hygiene, and Hospitality

Please Follow the law of 6/2/1 each day:

  • 6 Hours of Sleep
  • 2 Meals a Day
  • 1 Shower a Day

PLEASE Note, these are minimums!

Please be courteous to those around you and adhere by these guidelines, and please stay hydrated!

Outside Doors / Access

Please do not prop doors open to outside for any reason.

There are smoking areas outside the buildings around the gaming areas. Florida is a smoke-free state, which applies to all public areas. Smoking is regulated to 20 feet away from all public entrances. This also includes vaping / e-cigarettes.

The convention is a family-oriented show, so no alcoholic beverages are allowed in convention areas.

Courtesy

Remember there is no running, and be careful of other people. We are all excited to be gaming, but don't ruin someone else's time.

Children / Younger Players

Children aged 6-11 may only be in gaming areas from 9am to 6pm, no children under 6 are allowed in the gaming area.

No Animals

No pets are allowed in convention areas except for service animals.

No Weapons

No Weapons of any kind are allowed at the con. This includes simulated weapons, water guns, ping-pong pistols, rubber knives, etc. Any breaking of this policy will get you expelled from the con, along with a potential call to the local authorities.
